XF addons "must have" question

What addons do you consider a "must have" ?
I know that it's depend also from the forum target, but probably a few number of addons are really a "must have"
Which are yours ?

In my opinion and case, for sure Litespeed cache, and Media Gallery.
I would say also some "portal" plugin, but in the new 2.2 version it will be already present as "preview" option.

There is no such thing as a “must have” add-on. Every site is different and every admin runs their site differently. Out of my handful of sites, none of them are running all the same add-ons.

Agree. But maybe I miss some "standard" addons tha works really fine

No you haven’t missed anything. Think about what you want on your site. If it’s not in the core package, then you need an add-on. Don’t worry about what everyone else has or is doing.

Well the must have for everyone will be different as per their requirement, these are the addons i prefer on fresh installation :-

1. Chat 2 by Siropu
2. Similar Threads
3. Rich Username
4. Contact Us Thread
5. Google Search
6. Any statistics addon.

See, none of the above are must have for me. Only one I use in some sites is Rich Username.

When I talk about "must have" I mean exactly it. Something that for defualt XF doesn't has, but it's really needed. (not for everybody of course..)

I believe after 2.2 version, there won't be a need of Similar Threads anymore, as it is going to have an inbuilt feature for it.

Fortunately with XF I didn't see yet spam action in my forums (DDOS attack, yes..)
Is it no enought the control already present in the XF option for you ?

sometimes it is good to reinforce these options with some complement

The built in spam options allow for rejection or moderation.

Relatively, very few spam posts make it through.

Yes but in a share hosting is quite impossible. ( same IP)

I'm using it, and it works quite well (with standard plan offer by my Hosting). But sometimes is not enought.
The attackers can point to another websites, with the same IP where my site is hosted, and you have an issue.
It's really complex, also for hosting company manage these kind of attack. Just my thought.
