Vanity URL for Members

I know that there is this addon https://enxf.net/threads/tl-profile-vanity-url.1563/
But is there a modification, that works without the addon? Like on default.

I read somewhere that it's possible with htaccess but I dont know how that would work.

Any help appreciated.
