Most managers assume their remote team problem is laziness. It's not. It's ambiguity.

Someone's slow to reply, and you don't know if they're deep in focused work, dealing with something personal, or genuinely checked out. Without any signal, you default to one of two bad habits: micromanaging everyone just in case, or trusting everyone blindly and hoping it works out.
