XenForo keeps everything in one flat, chronological stream. Hitting Reply just inserts a quote; it doesn’t actually record which post you’re responding to.
I’m proposing a small structural upgrade: whenever someone replies to a specific post, XenForo should store an optional parent‑post ID. The normal thread view stays exactly the same, but this unlocks a few lightweight improvements:
“In reply to…” link above the reply
“View replies” toggle on the parent post
