After updating to 2.10, many page_container modifications became inactive and write errors. An error is written when trying to disable it :Line 636: template Tags were formed incorrectly. The contentcheck tag was found when if was expected. - Template modifications: public PAGE_CONTAINER . Please tell me what and where to look for and modify to return these modifications to work.

Revert PAGE_CONTAINER first and then add your template modifications.

Have you tried rebuilding master data via install/upgrade? that should rebuild master templates.
