Edit: Sorry I didn't intend to by-pass the rule on posting links. After I posted this I attempted to edit the post to correct a malformed link I posted and got the error message. I've left the links in because they're required for anyone unfamiliar with the website I'm asking about. If the mods are unhappy about this let me know and I'll remove them. I read the rules but I didn't see the 5 post requirement anywhere for posting direct links. If I missed that I'm sorry.

Original post follows:

Greetings, I've been out of the loop for years so I'd appreciate if someone could give me some pointers on this. I would like to replicate some of the things mangadex has done for its homepage and displaying individual series. If you are not familiar with the website it's a website that hosts scanlations (translated manga) and their site is powered by xenforo. The website is mangadex.org

I'm pretty sure I'd have no problem replicating the homepage and I think they're using Xenporta or whatever that is called. But if not I'd like to know what they used to build this out.

I am mostly interested in replicating the individual categories for each manga like this one: mangadex.org/title/8fb6d1db-c0c5-4122-81fe-dd480bfdb6eb/mahou-shoujo-201

As you can see it's a nice page with an overview of each chapter. The chapters are listed in a traditional list like threads are. But clicking on them takes you to the first page of the chapter (a large image). Clicking on the right side of the page will load the next image and so on and on forth until the end of the chapter/images uploaded as attachments. Clicking on the left of the screen goes one page back.

Each chapter has a link to comments which behave as individual threads normally would, like so: forums.mangadex.org/threads/mahou-shoujo-201-ch-40-exciting-chinfuwaland.2411675/

I would like to know if this is something they built from scratch or if this is a mix of existing add-ons for Xenforo. I am not looking to make a clone of their website. I am interested in building a very different website/forum. But I want an area like this so people can upload multiple images and I want to display them somewhat similarly to the way they're doing it. I'm trying to figure out if they're using a modified copy of the media gallery or if this is something unique to their site. I'm sure the admin of this site probably isn't interested in sharing his code.

I am confident that I can build up something similar from scratch. But before I spend a lot of time doing that I'd like to know if someone has built something similar using the media gallery, articles/forums or if this is a public modification/add-on. I tried searching both here and the offical Xenforo forum for add-ons and I couldn't find any discussion about this particular website beyond one or two mentions that were not relevant to what I'm trying to accomplish.

The website/forum I'm building is intended to display artistic image and video based content in another genre. I am not attempting to compete directly with mangadex or hosting the type of content they host.

Thanks for your time.

P.S.: I have not built anything on top of a forum platform since vBulletin 3.x and I only used the very early releases of Xenforo while the lawsuit between them and internetbrands was still happening. So I am unfamiliar with everything that's happened since about 2012 with forum software and the community surrounding it.

I was shocked to see just how many add-ons now are being sold for $20-$50 each and the fact that they have renewal fees. When I was last active this was unheard of and I'm more used to how things were back in 1999-2006 when most all add-ons were released for free on vBulletin.org. How long has this be normalized? I can't believe the prices on some of these simple add-ons I know I could make in a few hours.
