Add-on 1.12.2 is out. It includes 1.11.0, 1.12.0 and 1.12.1, which we didn't post here separately.
We recommend every forum upgrade: 1.11.0 fixed permission and privacy problems in earlier versions of the add-on.
Your forum's own checks, in every method (1.11.0)
We reviewed every one of the add-on's API methods against XenForo's own pages and services. Each now applies the same permission and privacy checks, and the same follow-up steps, as your website:
- Who may reply in a direct message, edit a profile, see a member's online status or profile fields, and attach files.
- Replies, new threads, edits and direct messages run XenForo's spam and flood checks.
- Search uses XenForo's own search, with its index, limits and permissions.
- Threads started or replied to in the app are watched as each member's preferences say, so alerts and pushes for replies arrive as they do on the website.
- Members can report posts, the "Subscribed forums" list works, and locked threads show as locked.
- Thread pages and lists need far fewer database queries.
More of your forum in the app (1.11.0 and 1.12.0)
- Ignore a member from the app, and see and undo the list.
- Posts and direct messages as your forum renders them: custom BBCodes, media sites, smilies and censored words look as on your website.
- Thread lists sort and filter like the forum page. New threads can have tags, custom thread fields, a poll and a thread type.
- Questions and suggestions show their solution and votes; signatures follow each member's "show signatures" choice.
- Your forum's notices, help and policy pages, and alerts that stay unread until opened.
- Your forum's name and icon, so members can add your forum by typing its address; thread tags; the title under each member's name; XenForo's "Last edited" line; and the right link for every media site XenForo ships.
Notifications that name your forum (1.12.1)
- In the Forum Copilot app, where members follow many forums, every notification is titled with your forum's name. Direct messages read "Sender: message" below it; they used to be titled with the sender, so nothing said which forum they came from.
- Alerts keep your forum's own wording, exactly as XenForo writes them for each member, in their language.
- Direct-message previews are XenForo's own snippet of the message: quotes, images and attachments are left out, censored words stay censored, and the text is cut on a whole word.
- Your own branded app (direct push) is one forum already, so its direct messages keep the sender as the title.
Smoother sign-in to the app (1.12.2)
When a member taps Log in in the app, the app opens your forum's own log-in page. The "Faster browsing in the app" banner no longer shows there, or on your two-step, sign-up and lost-password pages while that sign-in is under way. Tapping Open there used to leave the sign-in half done. The banner shows everywhere else as before.
Apps built for earlier add-ons keep working.
Upgrading
Upload the ZIP in
Admin CP → Add-ons → Install/upgrade from archive. Any 1.6.0 or later install upgrades straight to 1.12.2. 1.11.0 adds one option ("App two-step trust (days)", default 365), a daily clean-up of stale app device registrations, and two class extensions; 1.12.0, 1.12.1 and 1.12.2 add nothing to set up.
Each release was checked by upgrading XenForo 2.2 and 2.3 test forums from the previous release, with XenForo's file health check; 1.11.0 and 1.12.0 also ran the full live API suite on both.
