RSS Feed/News User has question marks instead of some photos

I have one user who is saying that on some threads, the occasional photo just shows up as a question mark for them. So on one page some photos will display and some will display a question mark instead. I don't see anything like this myself and only one other member says they have occasionally had that.

So trying to work out what it is. Is it user side or server side? The member uses an ipad and an iphone "a few years old" but not really old. I also use an iphone and I don't get it...
