RSS Feed/News Is it possible to change watched thread notification behaviour?

I understand the default behaviour is to send just one email notification for a watched thread, and then send no more emails unless the user visits the thread. This causes a lot of my members to miss out on seeing messages, as they expect to be able to keep up with them in their email inbox, and stunts conversations. Is this a setting I can change somewhere?
