disable banner stacking in message cell, enabled in profiles?

trying to accomplish something as xenforo doesnt do this by default, but i want to only show the priority userbar in message_cell, but have all userbars show in the profile. if i disable banner stacking via acp, then i am unable to see all groups in profiles. if i enable it, then all groups appear, but they also show in message cell which i dont want it to do. would this require a custom addon or would a template edit get the job done for now?
