RSS Feed/News Browser changes username every time I go to edit a user

Is this a browser setting I need to update in Firefox or what? Every time I go to edit a user and submit the change, I get a message that "usernames must be unique". I scroll up and the user now has MY username filled in. Has anyone else experienced this - and if so - what was the remedy?
